  • It’s raining awards and honors for CMA members. Now two of our members have been honored with the prestigious Sangeet Natak Akedami Award (Akademi Puruskar) for their individual excellence and contribution to Music.

    1. VIJAY SHAMRAO CHAVAN in the category of Folk Music-Dholak, Maharashtra,
    2. NILADRI KUMAR for Creative & Experimental Music.

  • CMA is overjoyed with pride as our member, flautist of international repute, Mr Rakesh Chaurasiya has won double Grammys for “Pashto” and “As We Speak” with other musicians, including tabla maestro Zakir Hussain.

    “As We Speak” won in the ‘Best Contemporary Instrumental Album’ category while “Pashto” in the ‘Best Global Music Performance’ category.

    We congratulate him on this phenomenal achievement and celebrate this moment.

  • We feel proud to share the good news that our Honorary member and legendary music director Shri Pyarelal Sharma of Laxmikant-Pyarelal duo has been honoured with the prestigious Padma Bhushan Award. We congratulate him on this long-overdue recognition by the Govt of India.

  • All CMA members are informed that we are discussing and in negotiation with ISAMRA – the society which has been mandated to collect and distribute the royalties of the singers and musicians for their recording works – to work out and formulate a system which is justified and in the interest of all. The procedure involves many legal and technical points which need to be understood well and addressed. The managing committee, in collaboration with many senior and knowledgeable CMA members, is working on this and we hope to get positive results soon.

    So, the CMA members are instructed not to enter into any contract or agreement with ISAMRA individually and wait till we work out a good and practical system for the musicians community!

  • Following the resignation of Mr Amar Haldipur from the post of CMA President, the managing committee has co-opted Mr Bhushan Chawla as the new President of CMA. A minor reshuffling in the committee structure has followed consequently.
  • CMA congratulates its member, the violinist and legendary Music Arranger & Music Director Mr Kishor Sharma, for receiving the coveted Radio Mirchi Lifetime Achievement Award.
  • It is a matter of great pleasure and pride that our member and famous music director Shri Ashok Patki has been conferred Maharashtra Times’ prestigious Maharashtra Bhushan award by the hands of chief minister of Maharashtra Shri Ekanath Shinde and home minister Shri Devendra Fadnavis. We congratulate him on receiving this high honor.

  • We mourn the sad demise of our legendary rhythm player Nirmal Mukherjee. He will always be remembered as an innovative key musician and a very jovial, positive human being.
