Based in Mumbai, India, Cine Musicians Association (CMA) is an association of the choicest musicians of the country, with strength of approximately 1000 members, who predominantly play for Indian Cinema (Bollywood) recordings, non-cinema recordings & world class live performances globally. CMA is affiliated to the Federation of Western India Cine Employees Association (FWICE), the parent body comprising many such associations of technicians, artistes, writers, producers & directors working in Hindi Film Industry.

The Music of Indian Cinema has always been a unique blend of Melody, Harmony & Rhythm; of Indian Classical & Folk Music creatively mixed with varied genres prevalent on the world music scene – with influences of Western Classical, Latin, Arabian, Rock, Country, Jazz etc. – in an interesting proportion, as dictated by the concept and genre of the film! This ever-evolving nature of Bollywood Music has ensured that the musician members of our Association are trained in and adept at diverse genres of Mainstream & World Music at the same time. This is the biggest creative USP of CMA on the global music scene.

We have the honor of having some legendary musicians as our members who have not only shaped the Indian Film Music to be what it is today, but also have influenced the World Music Scene very significantly.

Some of our members eventually went on to become celebrated Film Music Directors.

Many musician members are also prominent Music Arrangers & Music Producers.

Many of our musician members are excellent Teachers who impart the knowledge and training of music – both Indian and Western – to aspiring musicians.

This association was founded in the year 1952 and is registered under the Indian Trade Union Act (1926). Since then, we have been looking after the well being of our member musicians, safeguarding their interests and rights.

All the member associations of FWICE work in camaraderie with each other and almost all the matters or disputes, if any, amongst the members of different associations are resolved internally at the federation level itself – without the interference of any outside body! Apart from looking after its members in general, CMA managing committee represents the cases of its members on such platforms and positively ensures that their grievances or issues are handled and resolved justly.

If we ever faced any tough situation, which we did at times during our long journey as an association, we sailed through it with the unity of our members and the vision of our office-bearers, which have been our main strength all through. Nothing has ever been able to dampen the spirit of the Cine Musicians Association as a mother body, which cares for and loves all its musician members.

We Care

As a mother body that cares for and loves all its musician members, the Association strives to benefit its members by extending a helping hand in their hour of need in the form of Medical Aid, Ex-Gratia and Family Benefit. Members apply whenever the need arises and the managing committee decides and fulfills the assistance following the guidelines in the constitution.
